Cancast has had a place on the face of Canterbury for a number of years, and now from one end of the South Island to another, the team is providing unrivalled precast concrete products.

A small, dedicated team, led by general manager Dayle Hodgson, aim for a superior job each time. Having worked on some of the city’s more iconic projects, we have Cancast to thank for seamless angles, beautiful smooth finishes, and iconic structures.

From its modern indoor facility in Rolleston, the team constructs exceptional precast concrete components in rain, hail, or shine.

A big difference between concrete and other building materials, is the cost. This economical form of building does not skimp on strength, quality, and beauty. Cancast manufacture custom, architecturally designed concrete panels to almost any size, shape, form, or finish. These striking panels are included in a lot of commercial projects, as well as civil and residential applications. Formed concrete can be used for anything; from bringing life to an overpass, right through to more humble uses – as a bespoke entrance sign, just like the ones at Cancast HQ, Waterloo Business Park, or Falcon’s Landing subdivision.

The wall panels that Cancast produces adorn new builds in Ōtautahi and other South Island centres gracefully. Iconic Canterbury patterns can be seen around the city and wider – with such designs including braided rivers and tussock grass, like those on the new Southern Motorway – it’s definitely not boring concrete.

The experienced and skilled production team has delivered some of the largest precast concrete structures in the South Island, and no project is too big or too small; Cancast are dedicated to seeing the people of Canterbury receiving a high-quality finish on all projects the team works on.

Projects that Cancast has been involved in include: The award-winning Memorial Avenue underpass; the G-Block at Ara Institute, where the team provided unique feature columns, and the curved staircase at The Crossing.

Cancast is now welcoming a new business onto their purpose-built facility, which is just a stone’s throw away from the Rolleston I-Port. The rebar processing business, ProREO, led by Dick Hall, is now operational on site, giving Cancast the ability to provide products at a faster rate and ensures that quality is kept to the highest standard along the supply chain, as it will be able to produce its own reinforcing on site. Modern industry leading machinery can process high volumes of rebar, and even three-dimensional shapes; all products can be delivered to the client more efficiently and effectively than other suppliers.

It’s clear that Cancast’s place is firmly set in Canterbury and the South Island. As time goes on, the hard-wearing and beautiful products the dedicated team produced will stand the test of the ever-changing, harsh weather conditions, remaining in place to become future icons on the canvas of Christchurch – and New Zealand – as this city continues to reform, reshape, and recast.
