Winetopia comes to Te Pae

50 of our country’s leading wineries can’t be wrong! The winter wonderland of wine that has become a sell-out hit in Auckland and Wellington makes its second appearance in Christchurch this 26–27 August at the new Te Pae Convention Centre.

Winetopia is laid out by region, so you can explore the best wines of New Zealand from Northland to Central Otago and everywhere in between. Grab your Spiegelau tasting glass and a handful of tokens on arrival (included in your ticket) and set off to discover the best Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Albarino or Syrah amongst the winemakers and presenters that form this year’s line-up. These are not your mainstream wineries but pioneers like Quartz Reef and Prophets Rock from Central Otago, prestigious names such as Tony Bish Wines and Elephant Hill of Hawke’s Bay and boutique brands like Nautilus, The Boneline, and Dancing Petrel.

Your ticket also gets you access to the Main Stage talks and tastings hosted by TV presenter and comedian Ben Hurley. There you’ll find Master of Wine Stephen Wong and wine writer Angie Atkinson running through their top picks of the most recent vintages (stick around, and you’ll get a sample), or even hear from Sideways author American Rex Pickett (if you’ve seen the movie of the same name, you’ll know which wine not to ask about!).

The chefs at the recently opened $475m Te Pae Convention Centre are making sure your food matches are well covered (available for purchase), and after all the exploring, Auckland band Two Many Chiefs will put a tap in your step to make sure your Winetopia experience ends on a high note.

You can upgrade to a Premium Ticket to gain access to the premium seating, a tasting of No 1 Family Estate Cuvee on arrival and a gift bag for just $87. GA Tickets are $47 (or if you’re quick, get them at the Ridiculously Good Value rate of $37). $2 booking fees apply.
